Well done to Jemma McKay (S4) who has just completed some fantastic fundraising for Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). CHAS is the only charity in Scotland that provides vital hospice services for children and young people with life-shortening conditions. Jemma made a range of Christmas products and sold them to pupils and staff raising a fantastic £170.

Last Day of Term
On the last day of term (Wednesday 21 December, Period 6&7) the whole school will gather in the games hall to take part in the Christmas Reflection. This year we will share readings, music and reflections on the theme of “Aspiration”.
The school day will end at the usual time and school will reopen on Wednesday 4 January 2017.

A group of our S6 pupils have been visiting all of our associated primary schools in order to help prepare the P7 pupils for the upcoming Science Fair in March. They planned and delivered engaging Science lessons which involved; testing the pH of chemicals, comparing the viscosity of oil and water, make lava lamps and investigating the effect of temperature on glow sticks. The JYHS Wind Band were out at the regional heats of the Scottish Concert Band Festival on Saturday, performing in the Achieving School Band class. Our fantastic musicians played absolutely tremendously and the adjudicators awarded the band a Gold Award, meaning that JYHS have qualified to play at the national finals to be held in Perth Concert Hall in March.
