The Scottish Association of Geography Teacher’s Worldwise Quiz is open to teams from secondary schools in Scotland. Each team must consist of three pupils, one each from S2, S3 and S4.

Considering Leaving Summer 2017


Pupils will invited along to college application workshop sessions which are being held between December – February.

The first session will start on Monday 19 December. In advance pupils should look at college websites and be clear which courses and levels they are applying for.

Pupils can only make one application per college (with a first and second choice) so we need to work together to make this a high quality application.

S1 Pupil Christmas Disco

The S1 Christmas Disco takes place Period 6 & 7 on Tuesday 20th December.

S1 pupils can bring a change of clothes and change in the PE changing rooms
in from 1.50pm onwards.  You do not need to get changed if you don’t want to.disco-2

There is no cost for the disco and you can bring a drink of juice or water but not fizzy drinks or food/snacks

Work Placement Opportunities

Once again Babcock International are kindly offering work placement opportunities in June 2017. They will be running two separate weeks, with 15 places available each week. These placements will run Monday to Thursday on 5th-8th of June and 19th-22nd of June.

Lunch will be provided.

Speak to Miss McTiernan before the Christmas holidays to apply for a weeks work placement with Babcock next June.

S6 and P7 Science Lessons

A group of our S6 pupils have been visiting all of our associated primary schools in order to help prepare the P7 pupils for the upcoming Science Fair in March. They planned and delivered engaging Science lessons which involved; testing the pH of chemicals, comparing the viscosity of oil and water, make lava lamps and investigating the effect of temperature on glow sticks. Musical Success

The JYHS Wind Band were out at the regional heats of the Scottish Concert Band Festival on Saturday, performing in the Achieving School Band class.  Our fantastic musicians played absolutely tremendously and the adjudicators awarded the band a Gold Award, meaning that JYHS have qualified to play at the national finals to be held in Perth Concert Hall in March.
