Pathways to the Professions provides advice and guidance to school students in all 46 state schools in Edinburgh and the Lothians interested in applying for Medicine, Law or Veterinary Medicine.

Celebrating Chinese New Year

Over the past week Mandarin pupils from JYHS have been celebrating Chinese New Year

Visit to Edinburgh Zoo

Some of our pupils visited Edinburgh Zoo where they learned about the animal conservation programs in the zoo, spoke some basic Mandarin with pupils from other schools in Scotland, learned how to say some animals in Mandarin and took part in some Chinese New Year celebration activities in the Education Centre.

EMA Application Deadline (28 February)

Please note the deadline for EMA applications for students is noted below

Students born between 01 October 2001 and 28 February 2002 may start payment from 08 January 2018.  The form must arrive at the Civic Centre by 28 February 2018.

You could get a weekly allowance of £30 per week if you:

  • attend a school in the West Lothian Council area, or
  • you are on an Activity Agreement

Parents’ Evening for S3

Parents’ Evening for S3 pupils takes place on Monday 26 February from 5pm – 7.30pm.

The online appointment booking system allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments. You can either choose to print your appointment sheet off at home or bring your mobile device to see your appointments electronically.

Gymnastics Success

Congratulations to everyone who represented The James Young High School in the Regional Gymnastics Competition which took place last week. The JYHS Team had great success and the aggregate score saw them being placed first overall at the end of the competition.

The teams placing 1st and 2nd at Levels 1,2 and 3 will be invited along to the Scottish Schools Finals in Perth on Sunday 18 March 2018.  Best of Luck to everyone involved..
