LEAPS Unicafe Sessions (February & March)

For final-year LEAPS-eligible students who are holding university offers or have applied to UCAS this year.

Our unicafes are a friendly, informal place for students to learn more about what it’s really like starting university – with a complimentary hot drink and snack thrown in!

A session will run on Wednesday 13 March 2019, 5.15-7pm, Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh Campus in Riccarton Liberty’s Cafe in the Student Union building at Heriot-Watt University’s Edinburgh CampusRiccarton, EH14 4AS

Sutton Trust Summer School

The University of Glasgow is running a new free one-week Summer School this year, in partnership with the Sutton Trust. It will run from 7-12 July 2019 and is open to pupils who have just completed S5 and are continuing on to S6. It is a residential Summer School, with pupils living in University accommodation for the week. All meals will be provided and taken in University refectories and the Students’ Unions.

Guest Presenter – Doug Allan

On Wednesday, 6th February , award winning camera man Doug Allan visited the James Young High School in Livingston.

Doug has produced inspiring wildlife films for such classics as Planet Earth, Life in the Freezer. Frozen Planet and Blue Planet. He obtained a degree in marine Biology from Stirling University before starting his career as a diver and camera man. He is passionate about wildlife conservation.

S3 iAmSkilled – Thank you

As part of the iamSkilled programme all S3 pupils were treated to an interactive and well planned session on the importance of online profiles by Lawrence Broadie from Electrify. Lawrence is the former head of marketing at Heart of Midlothian FC and is now managing director of Electrify.
