This course enables candidates to develop general and practical skills, knowledge and understanding, together with employability skills and attitudes required for the hospitality industry.
The general aims of the course are to:

  • Provide candidates with an introduction to different sectors of the hospitality industry. We would be forging links with West Lothian College, local businesses, suppliers, hotels and restaurants.
  • Provide candidates with the opportunity to prepare for and experience a job interview. We propose to interview each candidate for a place on the course.
  • Encourage candidates to develop a good work ethic and take responsibility for their own learning whilst developing leadership skills.
  • Develop food preparation, cooking and presentation skills together with a range of Core Skills.

Assessment of this course is mainly through performance of practical activities.
