Donald Dewar Debating Competition

Last Thursday evening our debating team of Ellie  and Sebastian competed in the second round of The Donald Dewar Debating Competition organised by The Law Society of Scotland. The motion was “This House believes that democratic countries should boycott the 2018 World Cup in Russia.” We were the hosts and also the proposition.

The second round involved competing against three other schools – Craigmount High School, James Gillespie High School and Clifton Hall School – with only one team going through to the semi finals. Unfortunately we did not win although as always our pupils were exemplary and were a credit to themselves and our school. Congratulation to Clifton Hall School the eventual winners.

Our own Erin (S3) however won the award for best contribution from the floor on the night. A massive thanks to all who have helped in various ways especially our brilliant librarian Kateri who again chaired the event.
