Induction Days (New S1)

Pupils will spend two days at The James Young High School where they will join other pupils in their allocated personal support groups and follow a timetable which will give them a flavour of what they can expect at James Young. They will experience an assembly with the full year group and meet a range of teachers in a variety of departments. Each personal support group has allocated buddies (S6 students) who will accompany our new students to their classes and provide any support necessary. Staff will of course be on hand too to address any questions or concerns.

School Dress and Equipment on Induction Days
Primary dress code should be followed on both days. Pupils should bring PE kit, pen, pencil, ruler and rubber with them each day.

Lunch Arrangements
Lunchtime is from around 1 – 1.55pm and pupils will need to bring a packed lunch for both these days. Pupils in receipt of a free school meal will be supplied with a packed lunch from The James Young High School. Due to the cashless system in operation at the school, Primary 7 pupils will not have the opportunity to purchase anything from the school kitchen at any time on these two days.

An Induction Booklet containing more information will be available prior to these dates.

We will endeavour to ensure that your child enjoys their first experience of secondary school and we hope that the induction days will provide a positive starting point for the next stage of their school career.

Please do not hesitate to Ms Janetta if you require additional information
