Re-coursing Drop in Day

Pupils will get their exams results on 8 August 2017. 

 Should pupils wish to make any changes to their courses for next session following exam results, school staff be will available in the school  between 9 August from 10 am – 12 pm
Pupils do not need to make an appointment just drop in to the Lecture Theatre.

JYHS Debating Team

On Thursday 15 June  the Law Society of Scotland held their national schools’ debating final in the Debating Chamber of the Scottish Parliament.

The society ran an afternoon of activities for pupils and teachers to attend, prior to the debate itself. The JYHS team performed brilliantly during the rounds this year making it all the way to the semi-finals.

Congratulations to Sebastian, Rachel, Laura, Erica, Lauren, April and Ellie for all their hard work during the year.

Pump it Up Design Challenge 2017

All S3 Physics pupils participated in the Pump it Up Design Challenge during May.

Congratulations to Chris, Holly and Jacob whose design for a temperature controlled greenhouse was chosen by judges from Mitsubishi Electric and The West Lothian Chamber of Commerce as the winning entry from our school.

The pupils then showcased their design at the competition final at Howden Park Centre on June 5th, where they gave an excellent presentation to a large audience.

2017 Readathon

The 2nd Annual JYHS Library Sponsored Readathon took place on Friday 16 June, the event was a great success.

30 pupils joined Mrs. Wilson for the 12 hour extravanza and together they read 114 books and todate they have raised £200 towards Library funds.

Thank you to everyone who helped to organise the event and especially to all those who took part.

Youth and Philanthropy Initiative

On Thursday the 1st of June JYHS held the final of our Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) in the Lecture Theatre. YPI is an active citizenship programme that raises awareness amongst young people about philanthropy and their local community. YPI Scotland is all about creativity and passion, supporting the issues young people care most about through a unique programme of team work, research and competition.

Free school transport (2017/18)

Parents and Guardians should be advised that applications should now be made for free school transport in session 2017/18. Applications should only be made for pupils going into the following year groups:

S1, S5 & S6.

All other pupils should retain their current passes for use in 2017/18.
